Movies I Can't Get Enough Of

This 1967 film, based on the 1966 novel by Jaqueline Susann, is full of vintage imagery, drugs, sex, and the hardships of fame. The story follows three women, Neely, Jennifer, and Anne through the ups and down(er)s of celebrity life in the 60, with the help of some dolls. It's not the best movie ever made, (in fact, after the 1969 re-relese due to one of the star's murder's at the hand of Charles Manson's "family", the actress who played Anne told a sold out crowd, "I know why you like it...because it's so bad!") but I love it just the same. There's a reason it's a cult classic!

Rosemary's Baby, the classic 1968 horror flick starring Mia Farrow, is one of my all time favorites. Following Farrow's titular character's strange pregnancy and her life in a new apartment with some... strange neighbors. Weird things start happening to Rosemary, her husband's acting career picks up, and her neighbors won't leave her alone! Worried for her baby's safety, she tries to leave, but someone wants her in that apartment...

Okay, everyone knows who Marie Antoinette is! This film, directed by my all time favorite director, Sofia Coppola, and staring one of my favorite actresses, Kirsten Dunst, starts off with 14 year old Marie getting betrothed to the Dauphin of France, the future King Louis XVI. It shows her life as the young Dauphine, her sudden ascension to the throne, and the bubblings of a revolution underfoot. Showing a human side to the infamous queen, this is a really fun movie with an amazing soundtrack. You really feel for poor Marie, being thrown into power so suddenly with absolutely no knowledge of how to rule a country.

An aesthetically amazing film, The Fall takes place in 1915 in California, and follows the strange friendship between a stunt double and a young Romanian girl, both recovering from injuries in a hospital. Roy, the stunt double (played by mega-babe Lee Pace), tells Alexandria a story about her namesake. Flashing in-between Alexandria's imagination of the story and the hospital, this is a beautiful movie. Be warned, though, have some tissues! I cry every time I watch it.

30 Things To Do This Summer

Ah, summer. A joyous time of mosquitoes, humidity you could cut with a knife, and sitting at home bored out of your mind. Inspired by one of my favorite blogs, A Loser's Guide To Life, here's a list of things to get you out of bed on those days when you can't think of anything to do.

1. Try a new recipe
2. Check out a book from the library on something you've never done before
3. Search for vintage goodies at a flea market or thrift store
4. Re-arrange the furniture in your room

6. Watch a silly kids movie on netflix
7. Bike somewhere new
8. Get lost in your own city! (bring your phone so you can figure out how to get home)
9. Find out where a local venue in your town is and go to a show (who knows, you might find your new favorite band!)
10. Invite a friend over and do make-overs
11. After you're all dolled up, go to a karaoke place and sing your heart out!
13. Binge watch the series Pretty Wild, then rent the DVD The Bling Ring

15. Dye your hair a cool color with kool-aid or manic panic
16. Make a dream catcher
17. Make a god's eye
18. Get your camera or phone and go on a photography adventure
